  1. Kathryn, these dragons are beautiful! I really love them! May I ask, the blue one, you said you painted it on a piece of recycled box, has it been sprayed? Just wondering, if you have to be gentle with it? Take Care!

  3. Thank you, Stacy =) I haven't sprayed the blue one, but I could give it a light coat. I used a Special K box, lol, and it is pretty sturdy. I base-coated the cardboard side with white acrylic first...the shiny part of the box with writing on it is on the back. I started with colored pencil, then added watercolor, then acrylics.
I had read about some other artists doing upcycled art, and I thought it was a great way to recycle my large cereal boxes. I was a little skeptical whether they would make a good surface. To tell you the truth, the finished piece doesn't feel that much different from my ACEOs that are done on heavyweight watercolor paper.
I prepped a bunch of these last weekend while I was giving the birds showers and time outside on the screened porch =)

  4. Thanks so much for all the information Kathryn ;o) I have purchased some of the upcycled aceo's and they are really neat! The ones I have purchased have been sprayed, that's why I asked. I trust you ;o) You did alot of work on it! That Special K material, is pretty good! LOL!

  5. Hi Kathryn love the dragons & I have put one on too, I usually only 'buy' on Ebay but 'Nibblefest' sounded fun... Stacy have you heard of it? I only found out recently, let me know I can send links if you like, it's a once a month thing (like the full moon)
PS the blue dragon is my fav, so serene :)

Seems like everyone's favorite of these two is the Blue Dragon. Thanks for your kind comments, Crystal and Nancy! Yes, it is fun and satisfying painting on the recycled material. Kathryn
