Girl with Butterfly
For Sale at My ACEO Gallery
Hope you enjoy this spontaneous little drawing I created today. I started with a pencil sketch. I knew I wanted to draw a pretty face, but wasn't sure how to start. I took a deep breath, softened my gaze on the paper and started with some eyelashes and then an eye. The girls face and hair just started to take shape on its own, and I could see in my mind that there should be a flower behind her ear.
She was looking at something, but what was it? It was quite close to her, and with the flower in her hair...it just had to be a butterfly =) Well, I just couldn't get the picture of the position of the butterfly in my mind...so I went and looked up a photo and that helped me tremendously. In no time the butterfly was perfectly perched upon her fingers.
The pencil sketch was beautiful, but I wanted it to have more substance and I drew over the lines with black ink.
I have to say that there is more than a vision behind this type of spontaneous art. There is a feeling, and the images seem to flow through that feeling onto the paper. Its almost magic, and I am quite amazed and delighted each time that happens!
Happy Monday =) Kathryn
